June Character Interview
Patricia Parrington ~ June 1, 2025

Hello my lovely readers and fellow book-lovers! For those of you who are new here, I, your cookie-loving host Patricia Parrington, have the pleasure of interviewing characters from books all over the world.
Today we have here with us Emma from the adult romance Summer at the Sunflower Cottage by Jodie Homer. Jodie is a thirty-two-year-old mum with a part-time job. She’s a writer of romance and feel-good romance novels.
Meet Emma
[Patricia sets down a plate of snickerdoodle cookies on the coffee table between sofas.]
Welcome to Fable Features! Help yourself. Do you like to bake at all?
Oh no, I am awful at baking.
[Patricia laughs.]
At least you’re honest!
Do you have any treasured possessions?
Yes, I have a note that was left by my late boyfriend, Drew, that he put in a time capsule before he died.
Oh wow! No wonder it’s your treasured possession. How did you guys first meet?
We went to school together and secondary school (high school for Americans) and after years of being friends we decided to be a couple.
Aww, so you were high school sweethearts, then.
How do your friends describe you?
I am the organized one, the kind and friendly one, and they all know I would absolutely do anything for them.
Those are great qualities to have!
What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do?
Burying Drew.
[Patricia nods quietly.]
That would be really hard. Let’s move onto a more lighthearted question, yes?
How many chickens do you think it would take to bring down an elephant?
Urm, I’m not entirely sure.
[Patricia grins.]
It is a strange question, isn’t it? My sister asked me that question one time. Very random.
What would be incredibly surprising if it happened tonight?
It would be kind of weird if Drew just walked through the door, wouldn’t it? I’m not sure how mine and Ted’s relationship would work if he came back. But he can’t, right?
True. If he did somehow come back, that would put you in a difficult spot. What’s Ted like? Is he nice?
Ted is lovely. He found out about Drew at the same time as me through a letter. He’s been amazing support. He is kind and loving. I don’t want to embarrass him too much.
[Patricia smiles.]
We won’t embarrass him too much then. But I’m glad you have a nice guy like Ted in your life.
What do you like to do for fun?
I have children so the park is my definition of fun, but I like to watch movies with Ted.
That sounds fun! What’s your favorite genre to watch with him?
Ted pretends he doesn’t like rom coms, but I’ve seen the tears he tries to hide when we watch The Notebook.
[Patricia laughs.]
Haha, I honestly love that.
We’ve got time for one last question: If you could change one thing about your current life, what would that be?
I want to see my friends more often. I wish we could all live in the Sunflower Cottage.
That would be really nice to live close to all your friends!
[Patricia smiles at her guest.]
Well, it was great getting to know you, Emma. Thanks for chatting with me today!
Thank you so much.
End of interview.
